Croutons
We love croutons at Mangia and make several different kinds. These are the ones we use in our Caesar Salad. Snack on them, add them to soups, toss a few into other green salads.
The concern with croutons is not how to use them, but how to keep them in store. They are addictive.
Ingredients
- 1 small loaf country bread about 2 pounds
- ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes. Put them in a bowl and add the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
- Spread the bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, turning once, or until golden. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
