Introducing Mangia Minis: Small Bites With Big Benefits

Feb 14, 2020

We all know that sleepy 3 PM feeling—full belly, droopy eyelids, overcome by the desperate need for a post-lunch nap. One of the best ways to fight off the afternoon fog is to eat a smaller lunch and snack on healthy bites throughout the day. Our new mini sandwiches are the perfect power snack to get you through the midday slump. According to nutritionists, the best healthy snacks have a mix of carbs, protein, and good-for-you fats. Mangia minis combine energizing proteins, like smoked turkey, salmon, prosciutto di Parma, or mozzarella cheese, with nutrient-rich veggies like fresh baby arugula, roasted red peppers, green tomatoes, crisp microgreens, roasted portobello mushrooms, and sautéed kale. Top it all off with just the right amount of healthy fat, like sliced avocado, black olive tapenade, or our homemade herb mayonnaise, and then sandwich it between two bite-size pieces of our favorite artisan breads—just enough carbs for a quick energy boost without the crash later.

Many nutritionists recommend eating small snacks every three to five hours to regulate metabolism and maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Low sugar often leads to intense cravings for sugary foods and high sugar will result in an energy crash as you digest. Plus, snacking in moderation in between meals helps maintain better portion control and prevent overeating. Nutrition science has also proven that the proteins found in meat, fish, and cheese increase the production of neurotransmitters, helping us to feel more focused and alert.

If you still need another reason to start snacking better, a perfectly assembled Mangia mini makes for an adorable post to show off to all your foodie friends. Check out our brand new minis menu below and tag @mangia_nyc_official in your Instagram photos!
