The Italian NYC cafe Mangia is the caterer of choice for the Global Citizen Festival
NYC, New York, September 25th — One of New York’s finest Italian-inspired eateries, Mangia, played a significant role in another large event this month. After catering for New York Fashion Week just a couple of weeks earlier, Mangia’s employees prepared to cater to the 2021 Global Citizen Festival, which took place in NYC’s Central Park and 14 other cities worldwide.
Other hot spots that joined in on the fun include L.A., Paris, Lagos, Seoul, Sydney, Mumbai, Rio, Louisville, Buenos Aires, Johannesburg, Las Vegas, and Madrid.
The Global Citizen Festival hosts thousands of people for a 24-hour global event that features inspiring leaders, artists, and celebrities. The goal is to impact pressing world issues with positive solutions. This year, the festival’s campaign was A Recovery Plan for the World and focused on ending COVID-19 for all, ending the hunger crisis, resuming learning for all, protecting the planet, and advancing equity.
The caterer of choice, Mangia, stood in unity with Global Citizen’s mission, fully aligning with all efforts to defeat poverty, demand equality, and defend the health of the planet. As a caterer for many different events and occasions, the opportunity to be a part of a greater cause was an important step toward solidarity for Mangia.
New York’s Central Park held 40,000 attendees for the event, which Mangia enthusiastically fed with fresh salads, cheese & fruit bowls, and sandwiches. The cafe-style restaurant and pizzeria had their catering station on 57th street, just a block away from Central Park. In an effort to keep each dish as fresh as possible, the team prepared everything right on the premises, working around the clock to feed thousands of people with their signature meals.
Mangia also used eco-friendly and compostable packaging, keeping the carbon footprint of their contribution to the event at a minimum. Attendees savored the healthy, flavorful, and satisfying dishes while enjoying performances by artists like JLo, Coldplay, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Meek Mill, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendez, and more. The event was a massive success while simultaneously taking proper precautions for COVID-19 to keep attendees and performers safe
