Looking for new picnic ideas? You are in the right place. With recipes for sandwiches, wraps, salads and more, we’ve got something for everyone.
It’s picnic season and there is no better way to celebrate Independence Day with the beloved ones at the park or at the beach! Your blanket’s ready, your cooler’s out and you can’t wait. Now all you need is good picnic food to take with you.
Here are our suggestions for a happy picnicking!
Sandwiches
Mangia Sandwiches are the best picnic food out there! They are compact, so they don’t take up too much space and you can eat them with you hands! To pack them up, wrap them in a reusable sandwich wrap or foil so they hold together until you eat them. Our favorite is the classic caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and a drizzle of olive oil on a baguette. Simple, delicious flavor and texture.
Wraps
Like sandwiches, wraps are an easy picnic food idea that they don’t require utensils.
If you are concerned that a wrap won’t hold together when you take it on the go, roll it in foil before you head out of the door. If are expecting friends of friends to join the picnic and you are not sure about any dietary restrictions in the party, play it safe and prepare a vegan, gluten-free wrap: our Tuscan kale & Avocado with hummus.
Broccoli Pasta Salad
Mangia’s fresh antipasti table is full of a variety of salad ideas that you could take on a picnic! We choose this cold salad as it is easy to make on the fly and very healthy. We make this recipe with part zucchini noodles. It feels like you are feeling up on pasta, but really, it’s mostly veggies! What do we include: Sauteed broccoli, fussili pasta, cherry tomatoes, zucchini noodles and a drizze of Navarino Icons x Mangia extra virgin olive oil.
Watermelon Salad with Feta
Yes! Watermelon with feta, avocado, mint and do not forget to add lime! We might be biased and name this our all times favorite summer salad and it is originated from the Mediterranean! I remember growing up and having watermelon with feta for dinner on a hot summer night at the Ionian Sea. So trust us on trying out this refreshing salad, easy to make and the perfect mix of savory and sweet that will travel you with its taste to Italy!
Ultimate Crudite Platters
This is the ultimate board as an appetizer or make it the main event. Mangia is renowned for its grazing platters: antipasti, cheese and fruit, cookies and fruit and of course, crudité platters! If you prefer, choose from our boxed catering menu, the new snack boxes we have created for you. Easy to transport and beautifully designed, you can offer to each guest their own individual crudité box! How cute, how delicious and how convenient! Include all sorts of freshly, thily cut veggies, such as organic carrots, radishes, celery and Persian cucumbers with an assortment of dips such as tzatziki, green chickpeas hummus or/and regular hummus.
Happy 4th of July and happy picnicking!
